August 12, 2024

Here at Tirion Homes, a community development organisation, we have successfully completed our third phase of homes at Royal Victoria Court in Newport. This is a significant milestone for us, which, in partnership with Lovell UK, will deliver 264 much-needed affordable homes for the Newport community.

To showcase the progress being made at Royal Victoria Court, Matt Dicks, director of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Cymru visited the site on Thursday 25 July 2024.

Royal Victoria Court highlights the commitment to creating thriving communities with access to essential amenities and services. Its third phase includes a mix of housing tenure options designed to cater for diverse needs, ensuring more families and families have access to homes where they can begin new chapters.

Mark Howells, group housing director at Tirion Homes said, “We are thrilled to reach this milestone and are grateful for the support of the Chartered Institute of Housing Cymru in championing our cause for future developments.

“Our ongoing partnership with Welsh Government and Lovell UK at Royal Victoria Court is crucial to meeting the housing needs of the Newport area, as well as achieving government set targets. We look forward to continuing to work together to make a meaningful difference.”

During his visit, Matt toured the development, met with key project leaders, and discussed potential opportunities for collaboration between CIH Cymru and Tirion Homes, to secure more sites and deliver against the Welsh Government’s ambitious target of delivering 20,000 affordable homes in this parliamentary term.

Matt Dicks, director of the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Cymru, added, “Tirion Homes’ dedication to creating sustainable, affordable housing aligns with our goals at the Chartered Institute of Housing. The progress at Royal Victoria Court is impressive and highlights the impact of innovative and collaborative efforts in addressing the housing need in Wales.”

Royal Victoria Court is the second site being delivered by Tirion Homes and Lovell UK, with the two organisations also collaborating on The Mill in Cardiff, which completed its final phase in July 2024.

Gemma Clissett, regional partnerships director at Lovell, said: “Royal Victoria Court is a development we are exceptionally proud of at Lovell, and our site team has been working tirelessly to deliver the third phase of affordable homes to the highest quality.

“We hope that Matt Dicks thoroughly enjoyed his visit to the development and are so pleased that he has seen first-hand the wonderful community we and Tirion Homes are creating here.”

Royal Victoria Court will complete in April 2025, with a total of 528 homes. For more information about the scheme, visit www.royalvictoriacourt.co.uk
